Endure to the End

My wise words of the day
summed up from a discussion I had with a great friend who is leaving on a mission tomorrow:

Life gets tough, but God knows what he's doing. He knows who he put on the earth right now, and He knows what we can handle.

 1 Corinithians 10 : 13
13 There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.

Don't let fear, worry, and doubt rule you. Those are the advesary's tools.
When we overcome temptations and struggles, we earn strength. The less we fall back to those three things, the less power Satan can have over us. Life is hard, but we can handle it.

Study + Faith + Action

Why is education important?
Doctrine and Covenants 88 : 118
118 And as all have not faith, seek ye diligently and teach one another words of wisdom; yea, seek ye out of the best books words of wisdom; seek learning, even by study and also by faith.

I love learning... always have. Along with learning about the gospel principles, I also love English, Science, Math, History.. and all the other topics like it. I have found that the more I learn about God and his plan, the more I learn and understand secular things. And the more I learn about secular topics, the more I see and understand God's plan.

D&C 6 : 7
7 Seek not for riches but for wisdom, and behold, the mysteries of God shall be unfolded unto you, and then shall you be made rich. Behold, he that hath eternal life is rich.
Do: seek wisdom      Recieve: wisdom, God's mysteries, riches, eternal life

 D&C 11 : 21-22
21 Seek not to declare my word, but first seek to obtain my word, and then shall your tongue be loosed; then, if you desire, you shall have my Spirit and my word, yea, the power of God unto the convincing of men.
22 But now hold your peace; study my word which hath gone forth among the children of men, and also study my word which shall come forth among the children of men, or that which is now translating, yea, until you have obtained all which I shall grant unto the children of men in this generation, and then shall all things be added thereto.

Do: obtain knowledge of the gospel, study      Recieve: the Spirit, Power of God, all things God can give

 D&C 19 : 23
23 Learn of me, and listen to my words; walk in the meekness of my Spirit, and you shall have peace in me.

Do: learn of God, listen to his words, walk in His footsteps      Recive: peace

D&C 131 : 6
6 It is impossible for a man to be saved in ignorance.

If we follow the example God set for us and learn of Him and His ways, we can have so much more than we think. The examples are endless. These scriptures show just a little window. We are promised blessings if we do what he asks. Nothing bad ever comes from learning.

Matthew 16 : 24
24 Then said Jesus unto his disciples, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and
take up his cross, and follow me.

Scriptures to Brighten Your Day

To feel loved
John 15:13
13 Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.

To have hope
D&C 121:7-8
 My son, peace be unto thy soul; thine adversity and thine afflictions shall be but a small moment;
And then, if thou endure it well, God shall exalt thee on high; thou shalt triumph over all thy foes.

To have strength
Ether 12:27
27 And if men come unto me I will show unto them their weakness. I give unto men weakness that they may be humble; and my grace is sufficient for all men that humble themselves before me; for if they humble themselves before me, and have faith in me, then will I make weak things become strong unto them.

 To abandon fear
D&C 6:36
36 Look unto me in every thought; doubt not, fear not.

When you need advice
Proverbs 3:5-7
5 Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.
In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.
7 Be not wise in thine own eyes: fear the Lord, and depart from evil.

To know There is a God
Alma 30:44
44 Thou hast had signs enough; will ye tempt your God? Will ye say, Show unto me a sign, when ye have the testimony of all these thy brethren, and also all the holy prophets? The scriptures are laid before thee, yea, and all things denote there is a God; yea, even the earth, and all things that are upon the face of it, yea, and its motion, yea, and also all the planets which move in their regular form do witness that
there is a Supreme Creator.

The Godhead

We belive in God, the Eternal Father, and in his Son, Jesus Christ, and in the Holy Ghost.

Some people think that Mormons are not Christians. Christians believe in God. We do too.
Our church is called The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.
There are many examples we can give that we are Christians. The easiest example is the title.

When I was 8 and ready to be baptised, I recieved my first personal Book of Mormon.
I was so excited to have my very own copy to read and mark up. I soaked in every word I read and ended up highlighting every sentence in the first 8 chapters before I was shown a more effective and easier way to highlight what I loved. Through the years I continued to write notes and highlight things that stood out or meant a lot to me. It was a very used and loved book.
About a year ago I got the idea to highlight every reference to Christ and the Godhead.
Seeing the many many times on every page the Savior and his teachings were mentioned gave me a whole new perspective and has given me a greater love for the scriptures and the gospel.
That copy now belongs to my Grandpa and I am doing the same thing with my new set of scriptures.

One of my favorite verses in the scriptures is John 17:21

21 That they all may be one; as thou, Father, art in me, and I in thee, that they also may be one in us: that the world may believe that thou hast sent me.

Elder Holland of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles said,
" We declare it is self-evident from the scriptures that the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost are separate persons, three divine beings."

We pray to the Father through his Son. Christ was sent to the earth to atone for our sins and be resurrected so we can all conquer death and live again. He lives and loves us. Through Him, all of God's creations, designs, and plans are fulfilled. and the Holy Ghost is here to help guide us and comfort us.
I know they are one in purpose. I believe in God the Father, my Savior, and the Holy Ghost. I know they live. I know they know me. I know they want me to return to them. and I know that I am a Christian.

Meet Me, a Mormon

Hello friends!
My name is Lindsey and I am a Mormon.

I have been a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints since I turned 8 eleven and a half years ago. I grew up in the church and have been active the entire time.
I am an avid swimmer. I like most sports, including tennis. I enjoy the outdoors and especially love hiking, biking, running, camping, and shooting. Other interests include crafts, sewing, writing, reading, and teaching.

So far in the church I have served callings in Young Women's as members of the Beehive, Mia Maid, and Laurel class presidencies, the Primary as a nursery leader, and in the
Singles Ward as a bulletin board picture arranger [for lack of the 'official wording']

In High School I was on Student Government my Senior year and was on the Swim and Tennis teams for three years. Growing up I participated in many plays, musicals, youth choirs, and other youth sports teams.

My goals in life are to be married and sealed in a temple of
The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints,
raise a strong family in the gospel, serve a couples mission and/or humanitarian missions, and be able to make a difference in the lives of those around me.

I know that this gospel is true. The Bible and Book of Mormon are correct books written by prophets of God. We can learn from these books and direct our lives in righteousness. I know that Joseph Smith translated the Book of Mormon and it is another testament of Christ and his teachings. I know He lives and loves each of us. He guides us daily and wants us to return to Him. The Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost are three separate beings that each testify of each other. The priesthood keys have been restored to the earth and we can be blessed by them every day. The temples are houses of God. Eternal works are performed there and they are the gateway to eternal life. I know that if we live right and follow Christ's example, we can be with our families forever and be in God's presence into the eternities. He knows us. He cares for us. He wants us to come back home. And I know this gospel can bring us there.

For those of you reading this,
I will write the things I feel are important to share with others. Everything will be my opinions and beliefs, and what I say can be interpreted how you would like. I do not mean to offend anyone; I only wish to share the light that I have in my life with others so they can know the joy that I know.
I hope that through the posts you can learn about me, learn from me, and learn of the Savior through me.
Feel free to share your opinions, advice, and ideas.
Thank you
